I’ve recently been on a kick of listening to stuff that I was into during late high school. The late 90s. Easily my most embarrassing musical era. Then again, most people in high school were listening to crap like Ma$e or Sugar Ray or whatever. I guess I wasn’t doing that bad.
Disrupt were one of my favorite grind/crust bands. The words “crust punk” usually makes my skin crawl these days. Grind is fine. I still listen to a lot of grind. Anyway, Disrupt were local lads that put out an abundance of brutally heavy 7” records. In general, political lyrics(e.g. promoting vegetarianism) are pretty boring… but fast and aggressive punk/metal crossover is NOT. The lyrics are really hard to swallow these days but the music transcends and speaks for itself.
Side Note: A couple of these dudes went on to form the seminal doom/sludge band Grief. Pretty cool.
Released 1994 via Relapse Records.
