The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret

“The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret” is currently available on Netflix instant and stars David Cross and Will Arnett. This show appears to be a brain child (or love child) of David Cross and Shaun Pye and has somehow escaped the radar of nearly everyone I know, including me.

Since it first premiered on IFC in late 2010, I have never heard anyone talk about this show. Either nobody watches IFC, everybody has given up on David Cross after his Alvin and the Chipmunk films, the latest of which was called “Giant Piece of Chip” (it’s a play on shit and crap) or nobody talks to me about crappy tv shows anymore.

David Cross and Will Arnett are hilarious in this show and their performances  are solid enough to hold this show together well enough to make it through it’s terrible plot.

The story line is dizzying and after finishing the first season,I have no idea where the fuck it’s headed. It opens a can of worms, the kind that pop out and go all over the place and honestly, the only way I can imagine season two working is to forget about the worms all over the floor and open a brand new can. It’s that much of a mess.

As fucked up as “Todd Margaret” is, the show is funny and I am still a big fan of the majority of  David Cross’s work.  Mr. Show was incredible, his film “Run Ronnie Run” is legendary, his tour documentary “Let America Laugh” is great, his stand up comedy films are always worth a watch, his most recent stand up “Bigger and Blackerer” is still available on Netflix instant along with all of “Arrested Development” which he was also excellent in.

There is a lot of David Cross’s humor in “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret” (God I hate typing this title) and whether you enjoy this show or not it will entirely depend on how much you like his jokes. I say it’s good enough and it’s better than anything Larry the F-ing Cable Guy can Git Dun.
